Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. is a small, family-owned and operated business based out of Mooresboro, NC. The company was started in 1983 by Lester Deyton and his wife, Catheryn, to provide high quality boiler service and repairs to companies across the country. Lester has retired in recent years, and the company is currently owned by his wife, Catheryn, and is considered a Minority/Woman-Owned Business. The day-to-day operations are managed by three of their five children. Their oldest son, Dan Deyton, is currently a company Vice President and Field Supervisor. Their middle son, Lester Deyton, Jr. (Butch), is also a Vice-President and Field Supervisor, as well as handling the company Safety Program. Their youngest child, and only daughter, Karen (Deyton) Mullinax, is the Office Manager.

Lester Deyton - Founder

Lester's career in the boiler industry started in 1950 when he joined the US Navy.  After completing boot camp in San Diego, CA and attending technical schools, he was classified as a Boiler Repairman (re-classified as Boiler Technician after his retirement).  Almost all of Lester's Naval service was aboard ships on the East Coast and in Florida providing service and repairs for Navy fleet vessels.  He worked his way through the ranks and retired from the Navy in 1971 as a Senior Chief E-8.  Lester was involved with the last of the boiler repair crews in the US Navy.

After his Naval retirement, Lester went on to work for several boiler companies as a Field Service Manager.  He also worked as a Field Service Manager for an oil refinery in the US Virgin Islands and for an incinerator in Wilmington, NC.

In 1983, he started Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. with his own money and his knowledge of the boiler industry.  To this day, the company is still thriving as a family-owned business, with leadership having been passed on to two of his sons and his daughter, and remains an excellent company providing boiler service and repairs in the Mid-Atlantic region, East Coast, and across the USA to the West Coast.  Lester is now retired from Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc., but still shares his knowledge and experience of the boiler industry with everyone involved with the company.

Catheryn Deyton - Owner/President

Catheryn worked for 11 years in the medical field as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Jacksonville, FL at Memorial Hospital and in Spartanburg, SC at Mary Black Hospital.  When Lester decided to open Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc., she left the medical field and went to work with her husband, taking over all the office responsibilities including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, shipping and receiving, and all other secretarial duties.

Since Lester's retirement, Catheryn has taken on the role of Owner and CEO of Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc., making it a Minority/Woman-Owned Business .  She continues to captain the ship and remains involved in many of the decisions and operations of the the company, providing her children and other employees strong leadership and advice.

Dan Deyton - Vice President/Field Supervisor

Dan started his career with Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. in 1986 after being honorably discharged from service in the US Army for eight and a half years as a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic.  Prior to his military service, Dan had worked in the boiler service industry, and saw his parents' company as an opportunity to use his experience in the field.  After Dan joined Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc., the company rapidly grew and was able to serve a larger area of the US.  He now holds the titles of Vice President and Field Supervisor, and also works in Sales and Service for Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc.

Lester Deyton, Jr. (Butch) - Vice President/Field Supervisor/Safety

Lester Deyton, Jr., better known as Butch, began working at Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. in December of 1989 after years of working for Greyhound Bus Lines and a delivery company in Jacksonville, FL.  He grew up around the boiler repair industry, but did not work in the field until joining the family business as a Boilermaker Helper.  Butch has worked from the bottom of the company up, gaining hands-on experience on various re-builds and all phases of repairs under the tutelage of his father.  He is now a Vice President and Field Supervisor of Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. alongside his oldest brother, as well as the Safety Manager.  Butch also is the main contact for Sales and Repairs.

Karen (Deyton) Mullinax - Office Manager

Karen left her job as a Medical Floor Secretary/Transcriptionist at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, SC to join her family at Mid Atlantic Boiler, Inc. in 1993.  She worked alongside her mother as the company secretary and office assistant for years, gaining a wealth of experience and insight into how the family business day-to-day operations were managed.  Today, Karen is the Office Manager, managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, human resources, and keeping her two older brothers on task.  She also now has an Office Assistant, Macie Ward, to help her with the day-to-day filing, phones, emails, etc.
